  • Jack Daniel's whiskey is 'charcoal mellowed' by letting it drip through 10 feet of maple charcoal.  This is what distinguishes Tennessee Whiskey from other American Whiskeys such as Bourbon.  <br />

These covered wooden tanks are filled with charcoal.  Freshly distilled whiskey drips in at the top and is collected at the bottom.  The filtered whiskey is then ready to be barreled and aged.
