Stitzel Weller
Read MoreThe Stitzel-Weller Distillery opened in 1935. Eventually run by Julian ‘Pappy’ Van Winkle it produced some of the finest whiskey ever made, under such labels as Old Fitzgerald, W.L. Weller, and Rebel Yell.
The distillery was closed in 1992 and the brands sold off to Heaven Hill and Buffalo Trace, among others.
Julian Van Winkle III, Pappy’s grandson, still bottles excellent bourbon under his ‘Van Winkle’ labels.
